The Urban Harvest offers group classes and workshops throughout the month at various locations including Sunken Gardens, community gardens, and local libraries. We have classes for all ages, toddler to adult! Topics covered include intro to vegetable gardening, gardening in the Florida heat, composting, pest management, and more. We also customize classes upon request, please email us for details. Many of the classes are free of charge, with some workshops charging a small fee if materials are provided for take home projects. We also offer a variety of organic heirloom seeds for sale that have been selected for our climate as a great way to get started right away. The Urban Harvest offers one on one in home private lessons for people looking for a more in depth hands on approach to learning. Lessons last one hour and are custom tailored to your needs whether its figuring out the best location for your new garden, how to prepare for planting, what to plant when, or maintenance through the growing season. Although we will get our hands dirty together the intention is not to be your private gardener, we are there to teach you the basics so that you have the confidence to move forward on your own! You can schedule one lesson or ten depending on your needs but we have found that most clients feel comfortable moving forward on their own after 3 to 4 lessons.
We now offer garden parties for small groups at your home. Better than painting with a twist because you get to have an interesting time without ever having to go out! Enjoy a relaxed evening with friends where you will plant your own take home herb garden, container garden, or painted rain barrel. Skip the purse party and use your splurge money for the gift that keeps on giving. You will go home with your garden or barrel and a thorough understanding on set up and care. All materials will be provided.
The Urban Harvest will soon be offering online tutorials and educational resources so that we can reach an even larger community of vegetable garden enthusiasts! As one person, in one community we are constantly limited by time and distance. But we believe The Urban Harvest has important information to share with everyone. To expand our reach we are developing a comprehensive go to guide for all your vegetable gardening needs. We are currently in the process of tailoring the resources to our clients wants and needs and would love to get your input as we develop our program! Please take this short 10 question survey so that we can make this a perfect fit for you!
